Today is Independence Day in the United States. It is a day to celebrate the signing of the Declaration of Independence from the British Empire. Although today the Britain and the U.S. are close allies, this was a seminal moment in world history.
Much of today will be spent with friends and family, barbecues, beer and maybe even fireworks.
I’m sure the rest of the world may be less than interested in the U.S.A tooting its own horn, but I have found inspiration from the mental attitude, risk and fortitude of any person such as the Founding Fathers, whether American or otherwise.
I’m not going to editorialize on the righteousness of these men, or blow the horn of patriotism. What I do find fascinating and inspiring are some of the quotes attributed to these men, particularly for me, Benjamin Franklin.
Benjamin Franklin was an expert in many fields, was a politician, diplomat, printer, inventor and scientist. He theorized on electricity and invented the lightening rod and bifocals. If only I could be so productive today! You can read more about him over at Wikipedia.
I thought this being the 4th of July, it would be appropriate to share some of my favorite quotes regarding success and self improvement from Ben Franklin.
